Delete your data

Four different requests get called “delete my data”, and they do not have the same answer. This page separates them and says, for each one, what happens — including where the answer is no.

Last updated: August 2026.

  • Disconnect WhatsApp. Jithox stops receiving new messages from your business number. It does not erase the messages that already arrived.
  • Close your Jithox account. The sign-in account goes and the workspace record is emptied.
  • Delete one saved customer, or messages received over WhatsApp. A single record, on request.
  • Erase quotes and invoices. This is the one we refuse by default, because it breaks your own accounting trail. The section below says what happens instead.

There is no self-service disconnect button in the product today. Rather than imply one, here is what genuinely ends the connection.

  • In your own Meta Business settings, remove Jithox's access to your WhatsApp Business account. That is the step that stops Meta delivering your messages to us, and it is yours to make — we cannot make it for you.
  • Or ask us to remove it from our side. A person deletes the stored routing record for your number and the sealed connection details by hand, after which nothing of ours is reachable from that number.
  • Either way, disconnecting does not delete the messages already received. If you want those gone too, say so — it is a separate act.

Ask through the contact page. A person carries it out: there is no automated deletion pipeline yet, and we would rather say that than quote a turnaround we cannot keep.

  • Your sign-in account is removed at our sign-in provider.
  • When that account disappears, Jithox marks its own record deleted: the e-mail address is overwritten with a placeholder that belongs to nobody, and the display name and picture are cleared.
  • The emptied record itself stays. Approvals, receipts and usage entries point at it, and removing it outright would leave a trail of references nobody could explain later.
  • A saved customer can be deleted outright — but only while no quote or invoice refers to them. With documents attached the deletion is refused on purpose, and archiving is offered instead: the customer leaves your working list while the documents keep their counterparty.
  • Messages received over WhatsApp: your workspace holds the twenty most recent and nothing older, so an older message drops off by itself as new ones arrive. There is no button that erases a single received message, so ask and it is done by hand.
  • The business details you enter once for your invoices — name, VAT number, address, IBAN — go with the workspace, or earlier if you ask.
  • One thing the product refuses on its own: the general “erase this stored item” action cannot touch anything belonging to an invoice, a quote or a message thread. It answers that those are governed records rather than quietly deleting them.

Some records are not ours to erase on request. Saying otherwise would be the dishonest answer, so here they are by name.

  • Quotes and invoices, with the approval and delivery trail belonging to each. That is bookkeeping. How long you must keep it is a question for you and your accountant, not for us.
  • Card payments run on Stripe's hosted checkout, so the payment record lives with Stripe under Stripe's own retention. We store no card data, so there is none here to delete.
  • Approvals and receipts: who approved what, when, and what the provider confirmed. They are the evidence that an action was authorised, which is exactly why they outlive the account that authorised it.
  • None of this expires on a schedule. There is no automatic purge, and we do not claim one.

Write through the contact page. A human reads every message, and a request in Dutch is as welcome as one in English.

  • Name which of the four requests you mean. “Delete my data” can be any of them, and guessing wrong is worse than asking.
  • A short description is enough. You do not need an account number or a reference.
  • Never send passwords, API keys or card numbers. No request depends on them.
